PITTSFIELD -- Singer-songwriter James Taylor has partnered with the online auction site Charitybuzz.com to raise funds for Berkshire Theatre Group.

Charitybuzz provides bidders opportunities to live their dreams -- such as by attending an event with James Taylor and his wife, Kim Taylor -- and also make a difference through online charity auctions. The winning bidders in this case also received a stay at a resort in the Berkshires and a visit to two South County landmarks.

The couple, Cathie and Scott Braylie, traveled to the Berkshires from Toronto. The winning bid was $8,005.

"We are hugely grateful," the couple told organizers. "It's a tremendous experience to spend the evening with James and Kim and the fact that it's helping the theater makes it even more special."

The recent auction to benefit Berkshire Theatre offered the chance to attend the production of "A Christmas Carol" on Thursday night at the Colonial Theatre with the Taylors. They also received a backstage tour, along with a night at Blantrye resort in Lenox, plus a private tour of the Norman Rockwell Museum and lunch for two at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge.

The Charitybuzz site connects bidders with celebrities and brands and is helping more than 1,000 nonprofits around the world raise funds. Since launching in 2005, Charitybuzz has raised more than $60 million for charities, according to a release from Berkshire Theatre Group.

"The arts are one of the main reasons the Berkshires are so special and Pittsfield is so blessed to have a facility like The Colonial Theatre," James Taylor said.
