The Eagle published two articles in Tuesday focusing on the movie "Zero Dark Thirty." "Zero Dark Thirty: Hard facts vs. truth" by Neal Gabler on the opinion page, came closer to a responsible review, in my judgment. "A cathartic movie experience," by Steve Parcell, was off the mark.

Hollywood loves torture. Horror movies are filled with it of course, but it’s also a popular trope these days to show a good guy beating information out of a bad guy. The movie follows this pattern in its fictional account of how we found and killed Osama bin Laden.

"Zero Dark Thirty" is not fact. It is a fictional movie that falsely portrays torture as an important interrogation technique. Politicians on both sides of the aisle, Senator John McCain and Dianne Feinstein, affirm this.

Movie-goers should not be deceived.
