TROY, N.Y. (AP) -- Fire officials say a woman who was rescued from a burning home in Troy has died.

Fire Chief Tom Garrett tells media outlets that heavy smoke billowed from the second floor of the two-story wood-frame house when firefighters arrived at 8 p.m. Saturday. Flames prevented them from entering the front door, and barricaded steel doors kept them from entering the back.

Firefighters ripped down a wall to get access. They found 70-year-old Lillie Pompey unconscious in a second-floor enclosed porch. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Garrett said Pompey's husband and son weren't home at the time
