LENOX -- Funeral services are scheduled in Lenox today for a Marine from Connecticut killed in a training exercise explosion in Nevada this month.

The service for 23-year-old Lance Cpl. Roger Muchnick Jr. is set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Church on Main Street in Lenox, the hometown of his mother's parents.

With the exception of funeral traffic, motor vehicles will not be allowed on Main Street between Hubbard and Housatonic streets beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Muchnick, who grew up in Westport, Conn., was a grandson of well-known Lenox residents Robert and Mary Ann Coakley. The young man will be buried in the St. Ann's cemetery next to his great uncle, William Coakley, a Navy pilot killed in the Vietnam War in 1966.

Muchnick was among seven Marines who were killed on March 18 when a mortar shell exploded in its firing tube during a winter training exercise at Hawthorne Army Depot in Nevada.
