PITTSFIELD -- Dara S. Kaufman has been hired as executive director of The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires.
"We had many qualified candidates, but Dara's vision, skills, and passion simply set her apart," said Michael Ury, president of the Jewish Federation and a member of the search committee which unanimously recommended Kaufman for the post.
A native of the Berkshires, Kaufman most recently worked as director of member services for the Berkshire Visitors Bureau. At the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires, Kaufman succeeds the 11-year tenure of Arlene D. Schiff.
Kaufman has more than 20 years of experience in innovative business management, sales, member development, marketing, and technology experience in U.S. and Israel.
Within the Berkshire Jewish community, Kaufman has been an active fundraising volunteer and has garnered both regional and national awards for excellence serving in curriculum development and as a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher at both Congregation Knesset Israel, where she is a member, and the former Sinai Academy of the Berkshires.
"The Jewish Federation has invested in both me and my family over the years," said Kaufman. "I feel privileged to have this opportunity to return that investment and help shape the future of our Jewish community."
Kaufman is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and holds a bachelors in business administration and finance. She resides in Pittsfield with her husband and two children.
The federation made the announcement Tuesday.
