MIDDLEBURY, VT. >> The red-hot Williams College men's basketball team had its winning streak stopped Sunday afternoon.

Host Middlebury rallied from a five-point halftime deficit and pulled away for a 75-69 win. The defeat was Williams' first in the last five games.

Dan Aronowitz had his second consecutive double-double and fourth in his last five games, scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Cole Teal and Kyle Scadlock had 16 points each.

There were nine ties and seven lead changes in the game. The last tie came when Scadlock made a layup to tie the game at 67. Middlebury's Matt St. Amour answered with a 3-point shot with 2:51 left, and the Panthers never trailed again.

St. Amour scored 20 points for Middlebury.

Saturday colleges


WILLIAMSTOWN >> Williams beat Middlebury 186-94 in the final regular-season meet on Saturday.

Tim Kostolansky won twice for Willliams, taking the 50-meter butterfly and the 100 individual medley. His winning time in the IM was 52.29 seconds, setting a new Williams record.

Freshman Robby Bradford won his first collegiate event, as the Eph won the 200 backstroke.


LYNN >> The MCLA men dug themselves too deep of a hole to climb out of Saturday against Fisher. The Trailblazers trailed by 30 at halftime and lost 99-85.


Dakari Hannah-Wornum had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Fisher's Tyler Shular had a game-high 30 for Fisher.

Saturday High Schools


CHICOPEE >> Taconic went to the Burt Burger Tournament at Chicopee High School Saturday, and the Braves finished third out of 16 teams.

Mason Papirio won the 138-pound championship, and was one of seven Braves to finish in the top four.

Zach Mathes was fourth at 106 pounds, Zabion Powell was third at 132, Isiah Williams was runner-up at 152, Tanner Hastings finished fourth at 170, Tyler Klose was third at 195 and Dalton Peck finished fourth in the heavyweight division.
