AIER holding Summer Speaker Series beginning next week

The American Institute for Economic Research will hold its 2016 Summer Speaker Series on six consecutive Tuesdays beginning June 28.

The lectures take place at 4 p.m. in the ballroom of the Stone House on AIER's campus at 250 Division St. The series is free and open to the public. Reservations are suggested.

This year's schedule — June 28: "What Is Happening to Our Jobs", by senior research fellow Polina Vlasenko; July 5: "What's the Best Age to Claim Social Security — 62, 66 or 70", by Luke Delorme, financial planning director at AIER-owned American Investment Services: July 12: "Our Inflation Crystal Ball", by research fellow Jia Liu.

July 19: "Why People Move and Why They're Moving Less Often" by research fellow Patrick Coate; July 26: "Mom and Pop vs. Big Box: How Small Businesses Compete with Larger Rivals" by senior research fellow Max Gulker; Aug. 2: "Using the Business Cycle to Manage Your Investments" by senior research fellow Bob Hughes.

Dance studio celebrating second anniversary

2 Flights Up, a dance studio in Dalton, will be holding an event Saturday to celebrate its second anniversary.

Free line dancing will take place between 9 and 11 a.m., followed by a health and wellness hour from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with New Life Chiropractic's Britney Daniels. Games will be conducted between 1 and 4 p.m. followed by dance night from 7 to 10 p.m.



BYP holding scavenger hunt

The Berkshire Young Professionals will hold a scavenger hunt during the Third Thursday's event July 21. It starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Berkshire Museum.
