NORTH ADAMS — A city man is facing charges for allegedly exposing himself to a group of children.
Derrick Altman, 40, of Mohawk Forest Boulevard, allegedly stopped a group of children walking past his door and exposed himself from behind a glass door about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a probable cause report filed by North Adams Police Officer Joshua Tracy. He allegedly opened the door and the kids ran away across a parking lot.
The alleged victims were able to identify Altman because they have had issues with him in the past, the report said.
Altman allegedly told police that he had been at the apartment cleaning all day and waiting for his girlfriend to come home.
He pleaded not guilty in Northern Berkshire District Court on Wednesday to a single count of open and gross lewdness.
Judge Paul Vrabel set $1,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to return to court Sept. 26 for a pretrial hearing.
