SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- It took four games, but the Williams College field hockey team has its first win.
Caitlin Conlon scored three goals as the Ephs shut out Union 4-0 on Wednesday.
"We were able to play strong defense, stay focused and hold them off when they tried to shift the momentum," Williams coach Alix Barrale said.
Conlon's first goal came at 1:08 of the first half, scoring on a short-range shot from the middle of the fan. That was how the first half ended.
Williams dominated play throughout, getting 20 shots on goal to 8 for the Dutchwomen. Williams goalie Nina Kumar made 7 saves to pick up the shutout.
Conlon scored twice in the second half, getting the hat trick at 67:01. In between, Cary Hairfield got a goal for the 1-3 Ephs. Union falls to 1-5.
