WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williams College volleyball team improved its record to a sterling 12-1 Thursday night, beating Little Three and NESCAC rival Amherst 3-1.
The Ephs won the first two sets 25-20, 25-16 before dropping the third 16-25. Williams bounced back to take the fourth set 25-23 and the match.
"It's always good to get another NESCAC win," said Williams coach Christi Kelsey. "I think we had some challenges, but did a good job to work through them and get a victory."
For Williams (3-1 in NESCAC), freshman Tori Jasuta had a team-high 18 kills. Mandy Schott chipped in with 21 digs while Ryan Farley contributed 37 assists.
WESTFIELD -- Cam Boraski led MCLA by shooting a 79 as the Trailblazers finished fifth in the Westfield Invitational at Tekoa Country Club.
Westfield's white team finished first with a 303 score, followed by Rhode Island College at 305 and Westfield Blue at 334.
MCLA shot 348, nine strokes behind Worcester State.
Westfield's Patrick O'Neil was medalist with a 73.
For MCLA, Taylor Dunn of Williamstown shot 80, Mitch Mullett of Pittsfield shot 91, Nate Gutmann of North Adams had 98 and Padraig Dougherty of Pittsfield shot 99.
For Westfield, Adam Brickle of Pittsfield fired an 88.
