NORTH ADAMS -- Natalie Caney scored in the 10th minute for the MCLA women's soccer team on Wednesday. Her teammates made it stand up as the Trailblazers beat Nichols 1-0 in a non-league game.
Darien Sullivan crossed the ball to Caney, who scored her team-best 13th goal, beating Nichols goalie Sarah Whitestone, a former Wahconah multi-sport athlete.
Danielle Heinsohn made four saves to get the shutout for MCLA (6-8), as the Trailblazers had a 17-9 shot advantage over Nichols (5-10).

CASTLETON, Vt. -- Castleton's Alex McCormick scored his first goal of the season at 7:29, and that helped the Spartans (10-2-2) beat the Traiblazers (3-8-1).
Matt Robinson had five saves for MCLA. Nate Koenemann had four saves for the shutout.
Williams women's golf
NEW YORK -- The latest Golf World/WGCA Division III poll has Williams ranked fifth in the nation.
Williams had been sixth, but moved up after posting a third consecutive undefeated fall schedule.
Methodist is the No. 1 team in the nation and received 15 of the 16 first-place vote.
Ithaca (10th) and Middlebury (22nd) are the only other northeast teams in the top 25.
Williams field hockey
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Kelly Blackhurst scored four consecutive goals as visiting Skidmore beat Williams 5-2.
Blackhurst scored both goals in the first half and added the first two of the second half as the Thoroughbreds (11-3) went up 4-0.
Abigale Belcrest and Caitlin Conlon scored goals for Williams (4-7).
