Today is the three-week anniversary of the launch of our new website. We staffers in the office are proud of the progress we have made, digitally speaking, at The Berkshire Eagle. We've been recording videos, taking tons of photos, writing informative news stories and sharing all of it online.
Thanks to your feedback, we've made a few more changes to the website to make your site experience a bit easier. One of the issues we heard most about was the smaller presence of local news headlines on the Home Page. Now, we have it set up so that local news falls in a few places. One is just below our top story of the day.
Nestled in between the Police Log and Sports, by clicking on Local News, you'll be taken to a section of the site with all our local news stories, as well as education and community press releases.
Another option to get to local news is by heading to the top of the page and hovering over the News drop-down menu. Here, you'll find a rearrangement of site sections. Local News contains all the staff news articles from the current day's paper.
Editors' Picks are stories we find informative and interesting enough to be highlighted. Community News contains news releases of local events and functions. And Northeast News is occupied with New England stories from the day. To the right in this drop-down menu, you'll also find a portion of the day's stories listed.
Many people have been wondering how to buy Eagle photos from the site. Halfway down the page is our Media Center.
The default size of the photo is a 5-by-7 print. But if you want other sizes or to put the pictures on gifts, click Change Product to change your order and order multiple prints. Once you're done, click Add Photos to Cart in order to continue your checkout.
Are you looking for Berkshires Week or other local entertainment news? It's all under the Entertainment menu on berkshireeagle.com. We have calendars of music, art and theater venues here, too. The 413 section, which comes out once a week, highlights Berkshire nightlife. And if you're looking for movie theater schedules, this is the place to find them.
We're still working on simplifying our Lifestyles menu, which will be done ASAP. But in the meantime in this drop-down, you'll find health and science stories, along with some weekend theater and outdoors articles. Look for stories on camping, food, gardening, book reviews and more within this tab.
As we continue to develop the website to make it more user friendly, we encourage feedback from you, the readers. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your thoughts and opinions. You can also find me on Twitter @BE_LauraL. We're all ears over here.
