plans 50th reunion
The Pittsfield High School Class of 1962 will celebrate its 50th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. with a reception and dinner dance at the Berkshire Hills Country Club on Benedict Road. Reser vations must be made by Aug. 25.

Short story contest
The Berkshire Athenaeum’s Children’s Library has announced the winners of the annual Short Story Writing Contest.
Stories in five age categories were judged on their originality, appeal and writing style. Winning entries, honorable mentions and works of merit will be bound and added to the collection of the Berkshire Athenaeum for community members to read and enjoy.
The winners are:
Ages 5-6: First place, Sydney Lalime; second, Emmett Krantz.
Ages 7-8: First, Isaac Corbett; second, Ian Corbett; honorable mention, Holden Loverin.
Ages 9-10: First, Lydia Loverin; second, Isabella Corbett; honorable mention, Emelyn Theriault.
Ages 11-14: First, Emma Lezberg; second, Anna Leonard; honorable mention, Raeayn Warren.
Ages 15-18: First, Charity Stroud; second, Bailey Prescott.
First place winners will receive a $35 cash prize, second place winners will receive a $25 cash prize, and honorable mention winners will receive a $20 cash prize.
WRHS to register
Wahconah Regional High School’s guidance personnel will be available to register incoming students who are new to the high school.

New students will not be allowed to register on the school’s two in-service days, Aug. 30 and 31, or on the first day of school, Sept. 4.
The Wahconah National Honor Society invites incoming freshman class members, transfer, and new school choice students to come to the school for a building tour on Friday, Aug. 31, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. National Honor Society members will assist students in locating classrooms and answer questions.
Voter registration set for state primary
The last day to register to vote in the state primary is Friday, Aug. 17.
The town clerk will have office hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. on that day for anyone wishing to register or change party affiliation.
The state primary will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, and voting will be at the Hancock School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots can be picked up from the Town Hall Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon.
