Pittsfield: BSC hires director of new play development
Stephanie Yankwitt has joined Barrington Stage Company as artistic associate/director of new play development, the company has announced.
Prior to joining BSC, Yankwitt had been a member of the senior ar-
tistic staff at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, N.Y. since 2009. She served as the theatre's interim artistic director during the 2013 season.
At the Hangar, Yankwitt directed, produced and curated over 65 projects, and created and developed the Hangar Pilot Reading Series, a monthly series dedicated to developing works by new playwrights.
Her directing credits include regional work as well as associate directing on Broadway.
Yankwitt is a faculty member of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts at the Stella Adler School of Acting.
Berkshires: Big Y collecting worn flags for proper disposal
In honor of Flag Day on June 14, Big Y Foods is collecting worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled American Flags for proper retirement.
The company is working with local Boy Scouts, American Legions, Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, and military organizations to property retire the collected flags.
All Big Y locations, including Fresh Acres and Table & Vine, will have special receptacles for accepting worn flags through Wednesday, June 11.
Big Y operates five Berkshire County supermarkets in Adams, Great Barrington, Lee, North Adams and Pittsfield, and has 62 total locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
North Adams: MCLA will offer BS in business administration
The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will offer a bachelor of science degree in business administration this fall as a degree completion program, an option for adult learners interested in completing their degree in an accelerated time period.
MCLA is accepting applications for the next cohort, which will begin their studies in September.
Classes will be offered in Pittsfield on evenings, and weekends, or can be accessed online.
