Equus Therapeutic, hosted by Wedgewood Stable at Wirtes Farm, 705 North Main St., will hold a retirement party for its longtime therapy pony, Magic, from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 30.

Magic, a 24-year-old chocolate-colored pony with a flaxen mane and tail, has been a favorite among Equus riders for more than 14 years. He will be going into retirement at the private farm of a former Equus board member who has experience in nurturing aged horses.

The Berkshire Carousel has carved one of its horses in Magic’s likeness and will be bringing that horse to the party. Anyone who has ridden or worked with Magic will be invited to place a photo, drawing, or note on a display board.

A scholarship fund to benefit Equus riders is being set up in Magic’s honor; anyone who contributes $50 or more to the fund will receive a hardbound book with more than 40 photos of this pony.

For a $2 donation to the scholarship fund, attendees can have their photo taken with Magic and placed in a souvenir horseshoe frame.
