Project Native will host a free open house and reception at its native butterfly house from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 25. Rain date is Saturday, July 26.
The public is invited to nibble on hors d’oeuvres while learning about New England butterflies and moths and how to attract native pollinators to their own garden.
The 35-by-55 foot native butterfly house is a microcosm of the abundant life that exists on Project Native’s 54-acre farm. Visitors can get an up close view of all the stages of a butterfly’s lifecycle.
The butterfly house is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. Donations to help support educational programs and the maintenance of the butterfly house are appreciated.
Also on Friday, a Gardening for Pollinators Workshop will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Emphasis will be on the importance of using native plants. The cost is $25.
Dress appropriately for the weather; bring a hat, sunscreen, gloves, water bottle and closed-toe shoes. This is a rain or shine workshop. To register call BCC at (413) 528-4521.
