The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will present an illustrated lecture, "The Battle of Mobile Bay," at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, as part of its Civil War -- 150 Years Series.
The battle was highlighted by Union Rear Admiral David Farragut’s rash but successful run through a minefield. This was followed by a courageous fight between one Confederate warship that engaged the entire Union fleet.
Western Gateway Heritage State Park is located south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building #4.
