The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will present "The Virginia Plan: A Rescue from Nazi Germany" with noted author and educator Robert Gillette at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Road.

Gillette will relate that among Jews attempting to flee Nazi Germany before World War II were young men and women trained in the agricultural sciences who hoped to secure visas and refuge, while the Jewish community of Richmond, Va., developed a plan to create a safe haven for the students on a local farm.

The program will be followed at noon by a seasonal, farm fresh buffet lunch. The cost of the program with lunch is $11; the program alone is $5.
