PITTSFIELD >> Applications are now available for funding to provide human services to benefit Pittsfield residents. Funding is for the program year July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017.

Annually, the city undertakes a process through its Human Services Advisory Council, an 11-member volunteer committee, which reviews the proposals and submits its recommendations to the mayor.

Programs and consumers assisted with those funds cover a wide range of services for a diverse population.

Programs include but are not limited to: services for families with children; homeless services; programs for the disabled and for senior citizens; nutrition and arts programs; and programs that benefit children in the Westside and Morningside neighborhoods.

In addition to submitting a written proposal, applicants will be invited to come before the Council to make a presentation in April that will be televised locally.

Applications can be obtained at the Department of Community Development at City Hall or by email request to jdodds@pittsfieldch.com.

Three bidder's conferences to assist applicants with the application process will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in Room 203 at City Hall, and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, 330 North St., third floor classroom.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of these conferences.

Application due date is Feb. 29.
