The Milne Public Library will host a free two-hour cartooning workshop for tweens and teens at 1 p.m. Friday, April 22.

In this workshop, the focus will be on inventing characters and activities to practice storytelling in comic book form. Participants will use their characters to write, draw and produce their own comic books.

Instructor Melissa Mendes received a Xeric Grant to publish her first graphic novel, "Freddy Stories." Her young adult graphic novel, "Lou," will be published this month.

Sign-up is in advance, and can be done by phone at 413-458-5369 or by stopping by the children's room at the library.

This workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Milne Public Library"
