Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad will be holding a Community Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at its headquarters at 31 Lewis Ave., behind Fairview Hospital.

The event will close out National EMS Week, which officially began Sunday, May 15. The event aims to promote public safety awareness and recognize the day-to-day services provided by emergency medical services workers.

Live demonstrations, like Hands-Only CPR and a mock medical drill, will be conducted, and public safety providers will be on hand to answer inquiries about their line of work.

Scheduled to appear are Great Barrington Police Department K9, Great Barrington and Monterey Fire Department apparatus, and the Southern Berkshire Regional Planning Committee.

Other highlights of the event include a raffle, giveaways and free refreshments. The event is geared to people of all ages and is free to attend.
