Francis Oakley, interim director of the Clark Art Institute, will present the free lecture "In the Footsteps of Fra Angelico: Savonarola and the Florentine Millennial Dream" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the Michael Conforti Pavilion at the Clark.

Oakley will address the dramatic rise and tragic fall of Girolamo Savonarola (1452–98) as a religious reformer and civic leader in Renaissance Florence, as well as the difficulties historians have encountered in trying to make sense of his life.
