Three 2016 graduates of Lenox Memorial Middle and High School are the recipients of $1,000 scholarships awarded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12079.

Emily Tibbets, daughter of Gary and Karen Tibbets, won a scholarship designated for members of the general student body. She was a National Honor Society student and played on the high school and basketball teams. She will attend Williams College to major in economics and environmental science.

Katherine Mitts, daughter of Kevin and Marybeth Mitts, received the award reserved for a close relative of a Lenox VFW member, her father. She was a National Honor Society member and took part in the school's drama and Shakespeare programs. She will attend the Pratt Institute of Art and Design to major in visual arts.

Also a recipient of a scholarship designated for a Lenox VFW member's close relative is Annemarie Carpenter, niece of Sean Ward, commander of Post 12079. Carpenter, the daughter of David and Jill Carpenter, has been active in school education programs and plans to attend Fairfield University to major in liberal arts.
