Multi-instrumentalist Matt Consul will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the New Lebanon Library, 550 State Route 20.

The program, which will weave in and out of the classical world, will include Bach's first and second suites for solo cello (transcribed for viola) as well as folk tunes for voice and mandolin.

Consul holds degrees from Boston's New England Conservatory of Music. He was the principal violist of Boston's former chamber orchestra Discovery Ensemble. He plays mandolin, violin and sings with the alternative folk group the Laura Grill Band.

The event is free and open to the public, although donations for the performer are appreciated.
