Bernard Drew, Berkshire Eagle columnist and historian, will be speaking at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, in the parlor of the William Cullen Bryant Homestead as part of the "Rebels in the Hilltowns" lecture series.
The topic is Lt. Col. Arthur Dryhurst Budd of Windsor and Notchview.
Upon retirement from a distinguished military career, Budd and his wife, Helen, settled in Windsor and engaged in building Notchview Farm, which upon his bequest is now the Notchview property of The Trustees.
Drew researched Budd's life for his published "History of Notchview." He will also offer personal stories, having grown up at Notchview as his father was employed by Budd for many years.
Bryant Homestead is located at 205 Bryant Road. Members of The Trustees cost $5, non-members $10. Information: 413-532-1631, ext. 1.
