ADAMS >> The members of Boy Scout and Venture Troop 38 and their families met Thursday, Aug. 18, at Camp Holy Cross in Goshen for their annual fellowship dinner and Court of Honor.

The festivities followed a successful week of camping for the boys, girls and their leaders. Activities included kayaking, canoeing, earning merit badges, clearing trails and fishing.

The following ranks were attained by troop members: Scout: Andrew Daniels, Shinji Howcroft, Marshall Reese; Tenderfoot: Andrew Daniels, William Nhath, Marshall Reese, and Quinton Thomas; Second Class: Zeb Blanchard, Andrew Daniels, Marshall Reese, Quinton Thomas; and First Class: Marshall Reese.

Venturing, a youth development program of the Boy Scouts, is open to boys and girls ages 14-21. The following Venture Troop awards were presented: Venturing Award: Leane Stokes and Madison McLear; Discovery Award: Leane Stokes.

Merit badges are required to attain different ranks. Merit badges were presented as follows: Ryan Bednarz — Art, personal fitness, communications, disability awareness; Zeb Blanchard — Disability awareness, personal fitness, rifle shooting; Evan Canales — Personal management, leather work; Andrew Daniels — Sculpture, textile, art, astronomy, insect study; Shinji Howcroft — Sculpture, art, textile, insect study, kayaking; Nathan Mahar — Cooking, swimming, rifle shooting; Devon Marszalek — Disability awareness, rifle shooting.
