Poet Karl Kirchwey will perform selected readings of his work at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the New Lebanon Library, 550 State Route 20.

The readings will include selections from "Mount Lebanon" which focuses on the Lebanon Valley and the nearby site of the former Shaker community. His book is organized on Shaker principles, containing poems of the spirit, poems of the body, and garden poems.

He will also read poems about Rome, Italy, where he lived for four years, taken from his forthcoming book titled "Stumbling Blocks." Discussion and a question and answer will follow.

Kirchwey is the author of seven books of poetry and professor of English and Creative Writing at Boston University.

This program is free and open to the public.
