To the Editor of THE EAGLE:

I was greatly disappointed in Ruth Bass’ column ("Tough going in hearing prize novel," July 7) regarding Donna Tartt’s beautifully written novel ... which she never actually mentions by name.

"The Goldfinch" was a very special reading experience for me, as a sometime writer -- fabulous use of language, unique plot to build this story around, and compelling twists to keep in moving along.

Unlike Ms. Bass, who seems distracted by having to go disc-by-disc, I was reading it on my Kindle and couldn’t wait to buy the hard copy so I could go back over some wonderful passages. The Pulitzer Prize said it all!
