She might have bombed on "The X Factor," but Britney Spears is apparently not content to sit at home licking her wounds.
Spears confirmed during a Q&A session on Twitter recently that she is "working hard" on a new album, MTV News reported. She is "excited" and has been "collaborating with some new inspiring producers."
Among her collaborators is Grammy-nominated songwriter Elijah Blake, who has worked with Usher, Rihanna and Ciara.
During an interview with hip-hop blog That Grape Juice, Blake discussed the "unexpected" direction of Spears’ new album.
"I think her fans will be surprised by it," he said. "I would say it’s definitely the ‘unexpected’ Britney in so many ways, in that she’s playing with new textures and stomping on new grounds and genres. Š She’s definitely trying to push the envelopeŠ ."
"This album is gonna be crazy!" he added. "I write from a more cerebral place, I would say. My lyrics are more like a conversation or a thought process, I want people to hear my songs and think, honesty. I’d love to share that with her as well. She’s so cool and down to earth and she gives off so much confidence that writing with her is easy."
Spears’ last album, "Femme Fatale," was released in March 2011, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with hit singles "Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends." Most recently she collaborated with will.i.am on his new single, "Scream & Shout."
