HARTFORD, Conn. -- TheaterWorks will fill an open slot in its 2012-13 schedule with Mark St. Germain's "Dr. Ruth, All the Way," starring Debra Jo Rupp as the pioneering radio and television sex therapist, beginning May 31 and running through July 7.
Press opening is June 7 at
8 p.m.
Performances are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and weekend matinees at 2:30.
Julianne Boyd will again direct Rupp in a revised version of the production that sold out its world premiere last summer at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield.
From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport and joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper, to her struggles to succeed as a single mother coming to America, "Dr. Ruth, All the Way" spins a true-life story sprinkled with more than a dash of philosophy and observation.
TheaterWorks is at City Arts on Pearl, 233 Pearl St., in downtown Hartford
