ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Actor William Devane is returning to his upstate New York hometown to help a local Irish-American organization.

The veteran of more than 100 films and television shows will serve as master of ceremonies for Saturday night's gala for the Irish American Heritage Museum being held at a suburban Albany hotel.

The 73-year-old Devane, who lives outside Palm Springs, Calif., was born and raised in Albany.

Devane's numerous TV credits include "Knot's Landing." He played the U.S. president in last year's "The Dark Knight Rises."
