PITTSFIELD >> A progressive folk band from Quebec and a tribute to The Eagles have been added to Berkshire Theatre Group's spring lineup.
Le Vent du Nord is scheduled to perform May 26 at The Colonial Theatre as part of BTG's On the Stage Series. Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles is scheduled for June 2, also at the Colonial. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.
The four-member Le Vent du Nord — singers/multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, Simon Beaudry, Olivier Demers and Réjean Brunet — has earned several prestigious awards including two Junos (Canada's annual music awards) and a Canadian Folk Music Award. The group has collaborated and performed with Harry Manx, Väsen, The Chieftains, Breton musical pioneer Yann-Fañch Kemener, Québecois roots legend and master storyteller Michel Faubert, hip Scottish folk band Breabach, and the trans-Mediterranean ensemble, Constantinople.
Hotel California recreates the music and mystique of the Grammy Award-winning band, The Eagles, by blending vocal harmonies and instrumentation with a modern stage show. The performance is a showcase of classics like "Take it Easy," "Heartache Tonight" and "Hotel California," as well as selected titles from the solo works of Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh.
Hotel California comprises Dicky-Lee Dickinson (vocals, mandolin, harmonica, guitar), Wade Hogue (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion), Phil Rowland (drums), Scott Fronsoe (vocals, bass), and Steve Probst (vocals, banjo, guitar).
