Here is a list of area Fire Department social events

that we know of. Some times and prices were not available.

Alford Fire Department

Steve Berkel, chief

What: Pancake breakfast: pancakes, sausage, butter, maple syrup, orange juice, coffee, tea.

When: Sunday, Oct. 7, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. (Always the Sunday of the Columbus Day weekend.)

Where: At the fire station, 86 North Egremont Road.

Donation: $8 adults, $4 children, infants free; pay at the door. Ashfield Fire Department

Del Haskins, chief

What: Selling grinders, spaghetti, chili, chowder

When: Ashfield Fall Festival Columbus Day weekend

Oct, 5- 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Inside the fire station, 412 Main St./Route 116

Egremont Fire Department

Bill Turner, chief; Jim Olmsted, deputy chief

What: Pancake breakfast.

When: Always on Palm Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

What: Steak Roast prepared by the Old Mill and John Andrews restaurants: 14-ounce strip steak, salad, baked potato, garlic bread, SoCo ice cream sundae with Old Mill chocolate sauce, non-alcoholic beverages.

When: Always the first Sunday after Columbus Day weekend. Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Outside the fire station; under a tent if it rains; 36 Main St./Route 23.

Donation: $25 adults; children $12.

Great Barrington Fire Department

Charlie Burger, chief

What: Big breakfast: pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash, ham, fruit, orange juice, maple syrup, coffee, tea

When: Sunday, Sept.16.

Where: At the fire house; 37 State Road/Routes 7 and 23

Donation: $10 adults; $5 children under 10.

Hinsdale Fire Department

Larry Turner, chief

What: Block dance: carnival food -- hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, fried dough; six live bands; dancing

When: Saturday, July 21, 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Where: At the fire station; 86 Maple St./Route 143

Donation: $5 at the event.

Lanesborough Volunteer Fire Department

Charlie Durfee, chief

What: Block dance: live band Skid Marks.

When: Saturday, Aug. 18.

Where: At the fire station; 180 Main St./Route 7.

Lenox Dale Fire Department

St. Vincent de Paul Church

What: Block party: hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage patties, peppers and onions, beer, wine; Pittsfield band Whiskey City

When: Saturday, Aug. 26, 6 to 12 p.m.

Where: Crystal Street between Walker and Elm Streets.

Donation: $5 at the event; children under 10 free.

South Lee Fire Department

Alan Sparks chief, William Brunell, assistant chief in charge of South Lee

What: Chicken barbecue: 1/2 chicken with special rub, corn-on-the-cob, salad, bread, great variety of homemade from-scratch desserts, soft drinks, coffee.

When: Saturday, Aug. 18, 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Where: At the playground across the street from the South Lee firehouse, 1380 Pleasant St./Route 102 at the corner of Church Street.

Donation: $14 adults, $9 children; tickets available at RW's, Inc. auto repairs, 32 Run Way off Route 102, (413) 243-0946; or from South Lee firefighters.

Monterey Fire Company

Shawn Tryon, chief

What: Steak roast, live band and children's entertainment: steak or swordfish, corn-on-the-cob, baked potato, salad, roll, ice cream, beer, wine, soft drinks; hot dogs and hamburgers for sale for children; picnic-style dinner on lawn.

When: Saturday, July 28, 5 to 7 p.m.

Where: At the firehouse pavilion; 411 Main St./Route 23.

Donation: $25; tickets available from firefighters, at transfer station on weekend mornings, at firehouse Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or leave message at (413) 528-3136; advance payment preferred.

Otis Fire Department

Sandy Pinkham, chief

What: Second Annual steak roast and dance: steak, corn-on-the-cob, baked potato, salad, rolls, cake, soft drinks, byob.

When: Saturday, Aug, 25, dinner 5 to 7 p.m.; dancing from 7 p.m. on

Donation: $20; tickets available from fire fighters and at firehouse, 15 South Main Road, 264-4409.

Plainfield Fire-EMS /Firefighters Association

Dennis Thatcher, chief

What: Chicken barbecue: 1/2 chicken, corn-on-the-cob, baked potato, dinner roll, watermelon, iced tea, lemonade, coffee; also library book sale, PTO bake sale, Ladies' Benevolent Society tag sale and Arts Council art exhibit.

When: Always the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

Sunday, Sept., 2.

Where: behind the Shaw Memorial Library; 312 Main St./Route 116.

Donation: $10 adults; $6 children; tickets available from Plainfield fire fighters and EMTs.

Richmond Volunteer Fire Department

Paul Sintoni, chief; Eric Smith, president of the trustees

What: Chicken barbecue: 1/2 chicken, corn-on-the-cob, SoMa coleslaw, Pittsfield Rye Bakery rolls, watermelon, soft drinks.

When: Always the second Thursday in August.

Thursday, Aug, 9, 6 p.m.

Where: At the firehouse, 35 Fire house Lane west of Route 41.

Donation: $15; tickets available at town hall, 1529 State Road/Route 41 and Bartlett's Orchard, 575 Swamp Road.

Sandisfield Fire Department

Ralph Morrison, chief

What: Steak roast dinner and dance: steak, baked potato, corn-on-the-cob, salad, roll, dessert: all beverages for sale; hamburgers and hot dogs for children.

When: Always the second Saturday in August.

Saturday, Aug, 11, time 5 to 7 p.m.

Where: At Sandisfield fire station No. 2, 207 Sandisfield Road/Route 57.

Donation: $25; tickets available at A&M Auto Service, 7 Tolland Road, (413) 258-3381, or from firefighters; tickets pre-sold only not available at door.

Sheffield Fire Department

What: Pancake breakfast.

When: Always on Mother's Day.

Tolland Volunteer Fire Department

What: Steak roast and dance: steak, corn-on-the-cob, baked potato, salad, bread, cake, beverages, coffee, cash bar; dancing to live band Quintera.

When: Saturday, July 21, dinner 6 to 8 p.m., dancing 8 p.m. to midnight.

Where: At the safety complex, 206 West Granville Road/Route 57.

Donation: $25; tickets available at town hall, 241 West Granville Road/Route 57.

Tyringham Fire Company

What: Steak Roast and dance: steak or swordfish, baked potato, corn-on-the-cob, salad, peppers and onions, rolls, dessert, non-alcoholic beverages, byob; hot dogs for children.

When: Always on the first Saturday in August.

Saturday, Aug, 4, dinner 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., dancing to a live band afterward.

Donation: $25 adults; $5 children under 12.

What: Pancake breakfasts: pancakes, Wohrle's sausages, butter, Tyringham maple syrup, orange juice, coffee.

When: Sunday, July 1 and Sunday, Sept, 2.

Donation: $12 adults, $5 seniors and children under 12; tickets for sale at Cobble View Bed and Breakfast, Tyringham.

Where: At the firemen's pavilion, 100 Main Road.
