LENOX -- EduKaytiongolf's Kay McMahon has scored another springtime birdie by landing former LPGA star Dottie Pepper for "A Date With Dottie" event at her company's headquarters at Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club.
Pepper, who recently left her position on NBC-TV's golf team after an eight-year run with the network, will be in Lenox on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Last year, McMahon's star attraction was Dr. Bob Winters, a noted sports psychologist. This year, she has landed one of the most recognizable players in LPGA history.
"She's on the [Northeast New York PGA's] board of directors and I invited her to come," McMahon said. "She said she's been really busy but we were able to come up with a date. It's great. She's big and she's from the area."
Pepper, 47, who had a great LPGA career (17 wins including two majors) before nagging injuries cut her playing days short, grew up in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The six-time Solheim Cup player also has a connection with Eloise Trainor, the chief of operations for eduKaytion golf and the founder of what is now the Symetra Tour, the official training ground for the LPGA Tour. Pepper, as an amateur, captured a tournament on Trainor's tour in 1987.
Pepper, who is currently promoting her new children's book, "Bogey Tees Off," will conduct a clinic between 9-10 a.m.; the eduKaytiongolf team of instructors, led by LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Hall of Famer McMahon, will offer hand-on instruction between 10 and noon; and the event will end with lunch and a chance to talk with Pepper between noon and 1 p.m.
The cost of the event, which is being sponsored by Lenox Commons, The Pines at Bousquet and Lenox Woods, is $69.
