HANCOCK — The man state police had been searching for since early Tuesday turned up at a friend's house yesterday morning shortly before 7, according to a police spokesman.

Michael Hover, 37, fled into the woods west of Pittsfield after a domestic situation during which he may have purposely injured himself, said Massachusetts State Police Lt. Paul Palazzo.

When he arrived at a friend's house on Santa Maria Street, his friend called the police, who met them at Berkshire Medical Center.

Hover was not arrested, but charges of violating a restraining order are under investigation, Palazzo said. He remained at the hospital under treatment for dehydration and minor injuries.

According to Lt. Eric Anderson, police spokesman based in Framingham, troopers had been searching through the forest in Hancock for Hover since Tuesday morning, using K-9 units and aircraft. He had been missing since late Monday night.
