PITTSFIELD -- Hillcrest Educa tional Centers' 2012 Holiday Wish Program is under way.
The long-running Holiday Wish Program provides gifts for the 150 children in their care, many who are unable to spend the holidays with their family, or in some cases, the child who may not have a family.
Hillcrest Educational Centers is a local, private, not-for-profit organization, providing therapeutic treatment and special education to children and adolescents, with unique psychological and learning needs, in Berkshire County and the Northeast. Their campuses include a day student academy and three residential schools.
"Participating in the Holiday Wish Program is truly making a child's holiday brighter and it's a way to have an immediate and direct impact on our kids," said Gerard Burke, Hillcrest President and CEO .
This year, most of the Holiday Wish tags are spoken for by previous program sponsors, but Hillcrest is still looking for donations to supplement gifts at each of its campuses. As a guide, $10 will fill a child's stocking, $25 will buy a gift, $150 sponsors one child's full wish list.
"We appreciate all the businesses and individuals in the community that have heartily supported this program for many years, despite the ups and downs of the economy. Our five campuses each organize their own special holiday celebration for the students and it's a privilege to be a part of them and see our students enjoy themselves," Burke said.
