Berkshire Country Day School's Upper School Theater Ensemble will present this weekend its original workshop production, "Don't Grow Up, It's a Trap," inspired by J. M. Barrie's "Peter Pan."
Shows are at 7 p.m. on Friday, and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, at the Winthrop Theater on the local Boston University Campus, 45 West St., Lenox. Donations are suggested, and will be collected at the door.
"Creating and devising an entirely original piece of theater is a powerful experience," says director Sara Katzoff. Eleven actors in grades 7 through 9 created the show using research from texts, conducting interviews, and then producing original writing and songs exploring themes of adolescence and adulthood, rebellion and responsibility, imagination and fantasy. BCD music teacher Amy Hilliard is the musical director for the show.
