I got to meet the Pakistani journalist Adnan Rashid re cently at dinner, and found him friendly and erudite. When I read two of his recent columns about life in the war zones of Pakistan, I was en lightened and moved.
Rashid tells us the stories on the ground, makes us see and hear what Pakistanis, including the children, experience. We are so removed from the re gions of conflict and terror. Rashid does us a great service in making it real for us.
Thank you to Rashid, and to The Eagle and the Alfred Friendly and Daniel Pearl fellowship program that brought him to the Berkshires.
The writer is a professor of English at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
