Wednesday afternoon I took my three grandchildren to the Beacon Cinema to see a movie. After spending $9.50 for a popcorn and a soda we went to enter the theater. The ticket taker stopped us at the entrance and insisted on looking in my purse. I asked him why and he said to check for candy. If it were not for the fact that the movie was about to begin and the children were anxious to get in I would never have allowed it.

Needless to say, he found neither food, candy, weapons or any other questionable items in my purse. I found this embarrassing search quite humiliating. After looking at the fine print on my ticket I saw that they had given themselves the right to search anyone purchasing a ticket.

One thing is for certain, I will never be taking my grandchildren to the Beacon Cin ema again.
