I have worked with animals, mainly dogs, for the majority of my 26 years. I started pet-sitting for friends and neighbors as a kid and eventually started working at a boarding kennel/grooming shop, where I am still employed. I have handled more than a few "pit bull type" dogs and I can honestly say I’ve never had any problems with them. I have been bitten and snapped at by many other breeds, including some that are considered great family dogs.
The point is that all dogs can and will bite. Sometimes it’s due to bad training or abuse and neglect and sometimes it’s no fault of the owner at all, the dog just has issues that haven’t been correctly dealt with. Many of my friends own pit bulls and they are some of the most well-behaved pets I know. One of my friends is often seen walking his gorgeous tan and white pit bull up and down Pittsfield’s North Street. Just introduce yourself to this handsome pair and you will quickly see how loving and friendly the breed really is.
