President Obama said in his first re-election press conference the following: "I think right now the American people have been so focused and will continue to be focused on our economy and jobs and growth that if the message somehow is that we’re going to ignore jobs and growth simply to address climate change, I don’t think anyone’s going to go for that. I won’t go for that." It is time he and other politicians including the obstructionist GOP understand that both issues are NOT mutually exclusive.

The environmental crisis which means our survival as a species can be helped by what the Green Party has called for: A Green New Deal. Jobs are to be created in this field which will also include our infrastructure. The wealthy need to pay a lot more in taxes to give back to our society what they have either shipped overseas or reduced in this country -- specifically real wages of people. The notion that we can tax earned income at a higher rate that unearned income is perverted and it is time to reverse that.

So, not deal with the obstructionists. Raise the taxes for those most able to afford it, disengage from all wars, cut the defense budget, educate the people on the need to conserve and reduce our ecological footprint and use the money raised and saved to protect our environment and stop the worst effects of rapid climate chaos while creating jobs in the Green New Deal.
