I can’t imagine what it is like for the families of those murdered at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut. Innocent children and dedicated teachers and staff. I’m sure every day is a nightmare for the families and survivors.
As I celebrated the holidays with my loved ones we talked about those families. I have several grandchildren in schools. The older ones asked how this could happen. The answer is guns. So my question to all the gun owners who are concerned about their "rights" -- what about the "rights" of those that were gunned down? Innocent babies who only wanted to go to school. Staff and teachers who tried to protect the children from the man with a gun his mother had the "right" to own. An assault weapon and several more guns in the car. Why should anyone be able to obtain that many guns and an assault weapon? Why would anyone want an assault weapon? Because its their "right."
Hunters will argue that they need guns. I agree, own one or two rifles or shotguns. No one should own more than two guns. You have the "right" to own as many guns as you want. Want an arsenal, that is your "right." Didn’t the children at the school or the people in the mall or the people in the movie theater, the McDonald’s and at every massacre have rights?
Probably the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard is -- guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Yes, most times with guns. Assault weapons are for the
If this latest horror doesn’t motivate our politicians to take on the NRA what will it take? Take on the gun manufacturers. Make the NRA, gun manufacturers and gun dealers assume some accountability. On the news I watched, in disgust, the mass of people rushing to the gun shops to buy for fear their "rights" may be taken from them.
When are we going to put a stop to this senseless killing? Put a limit on guns that are sold to one individual. Have a longer wait while a check is made before they obtain the weapon. We do have laws, but we need to have stricter laws and most of all enforce them!
