Congratulations to St. Joseph’s Tank Roberson for his career best 47 points scored in a game against Westfield Vocational.

The Jan. 13 Eagle article mentions my father, John B. Hull, Jr., as the holder of the current Berkshire County individual game scoring record of 58 points. All of the articles which have mentioned this scoring feat by my father never mention the other members of the Searles team. It seems that they should also receive credit for the team victory against Belmont High.

They were, besides my father, Henry McCarty, later the police chief of Great Barrington; Thomas Connealy, later a judge of Southern Berkshire Court; George Fitzgerald, later the manager of the First National store; Gene Scott, the son of Eagle reporter Gene Scott, and later, with his brother Bill, the owners of three successful men’s clothing stores in Great Barrington, Watch Hill and Palm Beach, and Dutch Woodin.

All six took the lessons learned as members of a winning team to lead successful lives. May their spirits live on as an example to others.
