On April 22, join Massachusetts Right To Know about GMOs at Park Square from noon to 6 p.m. Today, genetically modified (GM) ingredients are found in almost 80 percent of all processed foods. Two major GM crops are corn and soy. Monsanto has genetically altered these two crops to survive huge doses of their herbicide RoundUp.

In another variety, they have altered corn so that each cell makes its own pesticide. This GM corn may end up as cornstarch in crackers or corn syrup in cookies or corn meal in cereal. Not only are we ingesting significantly higher levels of pesticide residue, these crops have been altered to the extent that our digestive systems no longer recognize it as digestible but rather as something foreign, resulting in inflammation, immune system havoc, leaky bowel syndrome and a higher incidence of colon-rectal cancers. We have a right to know what’s in our food.

Bring your concerns and questions April 22 to a rally at Park Square Pittsfield, from noon to 6 p.m. This rally is sponsored by Massachusetts Right to Know about GMOs and Berkshire Organics. Let’s get GMO foods labeled because we have a right to know! You can learn more at: www.MARightToKnow.org
