To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Something extraordinary is happening at Pittsfield High School right now. There's a fresh new directorial talent in the theater department and she has bravely launched a production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats."
The opening night show was vibrant with incredible choreography, beautiful costumes, and majestic set design. The live pit orchestra (directed by Aurora Cooper) supported the singers with a professionalism rarely seen in high school. In the program's director's notes, Justina Trova says "Cats" "is a spectacle that if done right should dazzle and mesmerize." Well, she has accomplished just that; this production is dazzling and the appreciative audience was clearly mesmerized. The cast was glowing as they received a well-deserved standing ovation.
Bravo Ms. Trova! You are a gift to the school and community and inspire us to challenge students to reach new heights toward preserving the valuable tradition of the theater.
