To the editor of THE EAGLE:

The circus is coming to town! Will you buy a ticket? For a number of countries, circuses that include animals are a thing of the past. Animals are no longer used in 12 countries in Europe, 11 countries in Central and South America, and on the continent of Asia, India, Israel, Singapore and Taiwan do not allow wild animals in their circuses.

In this country we are a little behind. Currently, there are only 34 cities in 17 states that ban the use of circus animals. But things may change. Congressman Jim Moran (D-Va.) has introduced the Traveling Exotic Animals Protection Act which will make circuses a more humane entity.

In the meantime, please do not buy a ticket. There are many circuses that only employ talented, entertaining human beings!
