To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Circus Smirkus, an all-youth performer, no-animal circus will be at the Great Barrington Fairgrounds Friday and Satur-
day with four performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

A local group of volunteers is working hard to restore and revitalize the Fairgrounds as a community asset, making it accessible to all. Local residents, not developers, have established a not-for-profit with the aim to benefit the community. A full house for the circus will be a huge shot in the arm to help fulfill that aim.

Circus Smirkus is the only American youth circus to travel "under canvas." The touring company consists of some 80 people including the coaches, counselors, costumers, tech crew, circus chefs, a live circus band and, most importantly, youth performers ages 10-18. Tickets will be available through the Mahaiwe box office, at tables around town (check for details) or at the door for each performance. There will be discounts available for groups.

Additionally, many citizens have stepped forward to be personal sponsors of this project. Sponsorship packages are available for businesses, inclu-
ding ad space in the program. Sponsors will be prominently and gratefully acknowledged at the event.

We hope that readers of The Eagle will join us in bringing the circus to town and the Fairgrounds back to life!
