To the editor of THE EAGLE:
We have a hidden secret here in Berkshire County. Fairview Hospital has an amazing cardio rehab unit run by caring, knowledgable and professional personnel who understand the unique situation that brought them to the facility.
However, once the number of sessions the patient has completed is over they "graduate." There is no maintenance program for the patient to continue their rehabilitation. The goal should be to encourage further strengthening so that they do not become a cardiac patient in the hospital again. The doctors request it, but Fairview does not have the space. The maintenance program should be just as important as the initial therapy. As our community ages, there are more and more people in need of these types of services.
A special thanks to the Fairview cardiac rehabilitation unit for its caring and concern.
