To the editor of THE EAGLE:
The loss of The Bookshelf is a sad loss to readers and bookstore lovers alike. You could browse through the shelves, dipping in here and there, exchange opinions with the owner or other readers or simply dash in to stock up. I never left empty-handed and more often than not, loaded down. You could load up on a pile of books for the price of one new one in a traditional bookstore and then return it for credit towards another purchase.
Any time I went in there Mary Killeen would be behind the counter, listening to an audio book while sorting through mountains of paperbacks and audio CDs. You could always find a good read and good conversation too at The Bookshelf. I think a lot of us will be a little lost without it.
