To the editor of THE EAGLE:

As a Williamstown native and now an Amherst College student, I am urgently concerned about global warming’s impact on our state and the world. That’s why I recently joined a campaign to pass a revenue-neutral carbon tax and rebate bill in the state Legislature. Studies show this bill would grow jobs and strengthen our economy while decreasing greenhouse gas pollution; most of all, it would be a model for the rest of the U.S. to follow, setting the stage for national bipartisan climate solutions.

This is the defining issue of my generation, but it is a problem that requires commitment from people of all ages; a grassroots movement is building momentum, and I hope that others in the Berkshires will join us. You can also find more info online at www.climate-xchange.org or by e-mailing our regional coordinator at Solomon_Goldstein-Rose@brown.edu.

I want to commend Rep. Cariddi and Sen. Downing for their work on environmental issues and other important legislation to protect our environment and economy. I hope others will ask them to support this bill when it is introduced in January.
